It’s pouring today in the graveyard
It’s pouring today in my heart
In front of this new smooth stone
Clutching a dozen roses
Thorns piercing to the bone
My heart is numb beneath the skin
Denying my body the warmth it craves
As the rain falls,
Cold and numbing to my skin
It falls on my arms
It falls on my face
Masking the few lonely tears
Cooling the heat of anger
Suppressing the raging fears
Replacing it all with an echo of words
Giving my mind the comfort it needs
As the rain drums softly,
Calming me with the once spoken words
“I love the sound of the rain”
“I like to watch the falling rain”
