Little tufts of Sea Pink
Scattered
Our upon the craggy moor.
Just below, the cliffs are
Battered
Stormy waters make for shore.
Puffins nesting in rock
Faces
Birds of prey are circling round
Campions color the open
Spaces
Rabbits burrow in the ground.
Ancient rocks the altar
Marking
Guarding buried mysteries there.
Mermaids laugh as seals
Barking
Jump off crags into the air.
Orange journeys across
The sky
The sun is wearily sinking.
This day has come and passed
On by
And I am still here thinking.
Starlight covers me in
Black lace
Manx Shearwaters take to flight
And find themselves a
Feeding place
Beneath the shield of night.
This is Nature's timid
Wonder
Sitting on the edge of Earth.
Enchanted isle of rain 'n
Thunder
Give to life a second birth.
In the distance, sirens
Calling
Tempting sailors brave the deep.
Reverently, the mist is
Falling
Kissing Skomer fast asleep.
